IN THE HEART OF PALM SPRINGS

The Romance of a Moroccan Desert Hideaway

Korakia Pensione has hosted visiting artists and musicians since it was a Moroccan hideaway owned in the 1920s by painter Gordon Coutts to recreate his life in Tangier, next door to a Mediterranean villa owned by 1930s silent screen star J. Carol Naish. Now a 1.5-acre petite resort in the heart of Palm Springs, Korakia is a hidden oasis of secret gardens, pools, lounges, and fountains among 16 stunning Mediterranean villas and 12 exotic Moroccan villas.

Begin your day with a relaxing breakfast in our Moroccan courtyard; take traditional mint tea and lounge with old and new friends near our fire pits or in the library, and greet a cloudless desert sky with morning yoga. Up for adventure? We'll guide you through sacred grounds in Tahquitz Canyon, past waterfalls, and ease your muscles with a massage when you return. Stroll around the villas in the evening after the ritual lighting of our Moroccan lanterns and you may wonder just where you are.

candles each night

Our nightly ritual is lighting candles all around our courtyards—a favorite nightly custom of our guests, who often plan their evening to watch us put them out.

fountains dot our courtyards

We float fresh flowers in all our fountains daily, a sweet touch that makes our courtyards feel even more colorful and exotic.

90

years since Winston Churchill visited

Historians believe that Winston Churchill, an avid watercolorist himself, spent time in the 1920s at Dar Maroc, the Moroccan-themed home that has become part of Korakia. You can even book a stay in our artist studio, where he would have painted.
